BPS Welcome Center staff is available for all your questions concerning school registration and the enrollment process. We also conduct language testing for English learners and assist with work permits.
BPS Welcome Centers are temporarily closed to the public,
but you can still register your child for Boston Public Schools for the 2020-2021 school year.
There are two ways to register:
- By computer: Pre-register online here and schedule an appointment here to complete the process over the phone.
- By phone: Call 617-635-9010 and register with one of our registration specialists.
Please continue to check our website for updates.
If you have registered for BPS, and your student needs language testing, the Newcomers Assessment Counseling Center (NACC) will contact you and schedule a virtual appointment for your student’s assessment. Appointments are conducted online or by phone. Once your student has completed their language assessment, you will be able to make your school selections.
The second round of assignment notifications for the 2020-2021 school year will be sent out via email by Friday, July 17. These assignments are for any students that registered between February and May and will be entering K2 or any other grade in September.
Assignment notifications will be sent out by email. Due to closures related to the Coronavirus, we are unable to send out physical assignment notification letters this year.
If your child is eligible for bus transportation for next year and you register by August 7, their bus assignment and stop information will be emailed and/or mailed to you before the start of school.
We are here to serve you and are happy to offer registration assistance in other languages. For interpretation assistance, please call the Welcome Center at 617-635-9010.
