PRIORITY POOLS

  • Applications submitted prior to March 1st will be considered for BPS Priority Pools, which give candidates opportunities to earn priority ratings visible to school leaders. All applications will be screened against the teacher competencies, where applicants can demonstrate their ability to serve Boston's students. View this "cheat sheet" explaining the process.

COMPETENCIES


LICENSURE

      • Boston Public Schools requires teachers to be licensed by the state in the area they are teaching on the first day of school.

      • To learn more about the state's requirement for licensure, please visit the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s website.

      • To be granted an educator license from the state, you must pass the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL).
