Boston Pre-K in Boston Public Schools

All K0 and K1 classrooms within Boston Public Schools (BPS) are part of Boston Pre-K.

However, there are key differences between Boston Pre-K seats offered at BPS and those available through community providers, such as Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Independent Schools, and Family Child Care. Please keep the following in mind:

  • Geographic Restriction: Boston Pre-K seats at BPS are limited to families residing in the City of Boston. Eligibility is based on the family’s home address. Families can explore their school options at www.DiscoverBPS.org. Note that many seats fill up before the school year begins, so it's important to check availability with a member of the Welcome Services team.

  • Separate Applications: The application process for Boston Public Schools is separate from that of community providers. These applications are independent, meaning accepting or registering for one offer does not affect your eligibility or placement for the other, should both options be available.

  • How to Apply: To apply for K0/K1 at Boston Public Schools, follow the instructions provided on the BPS Registration Website.
