Laura Perille

Laura Perille was named Interim Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools in a unanimous appointment by the Boston School Committee in July 2018.

Laura previously served as President and CEO of EdVestors. Since its launch in 2002 under her  leadership, EdVestors has raised and helped investors direct more than $26 million in funds for urban school improvement, with a primary focus on the Boston Public Schools. A signature EdVestors initiative was BPS Arts Expansion, which increased access to the arts for about 17,000 students in BPS over 9 years. Additionally, since 2006, EdVestors has awarded $100,000 per year to a Boston public school that has demonstrated rapid student improvement through its Thomas Payzant School on the Move Prize.

As Interim Superintendent of BPS, Laura’s primary goals are to establish systemic conditions necessary to improve opportunities for students in order to narrow achievement gaps at all BPS schools.  Under her leadership, BPS is positioning its Central Office to serve the teaching and learning needs of all schools while prioritizing the critical supports needed for lower performing schools, And as part of the BuildBPS initiative, BPS is in the process of aligning its long-term investments in new or improved facilities with district’s educational objectives surrounding grade configurations, program placements, and the minimization of school to school transitions for students.

Laura's nonprofit management career has focused on meeting the needs of children and families in Boston. Prior to EdVestors, Laura led the Perille Consulting Group working with local schools, nonprofits, and foundations. Previously she served as Director of Education for Crittenton Hastings House (now EMPath), Policy Analyst for Community Catalyst/Families USA, and Director of Programs for the Greater Boston Food Bank.
