Principal McGoldrick

Greetings Frederick Families,

Welcome back families and students! We hope you each had an enjoyable, safe, and restful summer break, creating memories and enjoying time with your loved ones. As the new academic year approaches, we are thrilled to once again open our doors and embark on a journey of learning, growth, and discovery together.  I look forward to working with you this year.

To help you prepare for the opening of school we would like to share some important guidance and details.  Please review the following information:

First Day of School

The first day of school for students is on Thursday, September 5, 2024. School begins at 9:15 AM. We have included the BPS SY 23-24 calendar at the end of this letter for your review.

First Day Arrival

All students will be greeted by our staff on the plaza on the first day of school.  We will direct new and returning students to their classrooms.  If you wish to check your child’s homeroom in advance, students can preview their accurate homeroom information in ASPEN by Friday, August 30, 2024.

Dismissal and Pick Up

Each day students will be dismissed to the Columbia Road exits at 3:40pm. Please make arrangements to pick up students from Columbia Road.  Due to the volume of our buses, vehicles should only enter the school driveway during dismissal if they are going to the parking lot. There is no parking or waiting along the school driveway or bus circle.

Uniforms

In an effort to engage in more inclusive practices, the Frederick community engaged in a process to update our uniform policy. Based on overwhelming feedback from Frederick students, families and staff, uniforms will continue to be optional for Frederick students.  For the safety of our students, everyone is expected to wear closed-toed shoes.  Slides and flip flops are not permitted.  Please refer to the Frederick Uniform Plan

New Student Tours

We are excited this year to have a large number of returning students!  If any new students and families have not yet been able to visit please call us at 617-635-1650 or email jsenat2@bostopublicschools.org to schedule a tour for Tuesday, September 4.  Please reach out to Jessica Senat with any questions.

Back to School Event

Throughout the school year, we encourage open communication and collaboration between our school and families. We firmly believe that a strong partnership between home and school is vital for student’s success. As such, on September 12, 2024 we will be hosting our Back to School event from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm. Please mark your calendars with the important dates in the attached events calendar below.

Backpacks & School Supplies

We are excited to share some wonderful opportunities for you and your children to engage with the Boston community and prepare for a successful academic year. The city is abuzz with back-to-school events, and we encourage you to take advantage of these gatherings that promote learning, connection, and community involvement.

We understand that the transition back to school can be both exciting and busy, so we will be distributing extra backpacks and materials during our Welcome Back family event for every interested Frederick student.

Please email help@lgfnet.org or call our main office at 617-635-1650 with any questions. We are so excited to welcome you all to the Frederick community this year and I look forward to working alongside you to ensure a wonderful year for your child.

In partnership,

Meghan McGoldrick
