Located in the Grove Hall neighborhood of Dorchester, MA, the Martin Luther King Jr. K-8 School is an emerging community school that serves over 550 students in pre-kindergarten (K0) through grade 8. Our school provides quality educational opportunities for our students during regular school hours and beyond. We provide programming between the hours of 7:30am and 6pm with regular school hours between 8:40am and 3pm. The King, as it's known in the community, continues to build its capacity to offer access and opportunity to it's students and families through the development of strong, strategic relationships with community partners.
The King exemplifies the true meaning of Dr. King's dream for our community. At the King, students are not judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. Our diverse teaching staff reflect the identities of the students we serve and we celebrate the many cultures, backgrounds and experiences of our student body. We encourage our students to take PRIDE in themselves by following our core values of perseverance, responsibility, integrity, discovery, and empathy. At the King, we keep the bar high and hold our students accountable. At the King, we know that our students can do anything they set their mines to. At the King, we are a family.
