As part of the BuildBPS expansion project, Blackstone is adding 6th grade. Because of the additional grade, the school is allotted an additional specialty class for the 2022-2023 year.

We'd like parents to indicate what type of specialty would be best to extend the learning of our students.

Explanation of Heritage Spanish Language Cultural Connection for "LatinX Roots"

Heritage language is a term commonly used for a language spoken at home that is different from the main language spoken in a society. Heritage Spanish students are those who have been raised in Spanish-speaking homes in the United States and schooled, for the most part, in English.

LatinX Roots aims to cultivate Hispanic heritage and cultural values by helping students explore the Spanish language through music, liberal and performance art, sports, architecture, and food. Students will learn the language by focusing on cultural elements from our contemporary times and also from its history. At the end of each thematic unit, students will connect multicultural elements among different cultures to make sense of the intersectionality of our cultures and our contributions to today’s America.
