Boston Public Schools (BPS) welcomes all families who areregistering new students for the 2019-2020 school year. The district is offering registration dates by last name to help reduce wait times at BPS Welcome Centers during the priority registration period, which begins Thursday, January 3.
The priority registration period, from January 3-February 1, is for students who will be new to BPS next year and are entering pre-K (grades K0 and K1) or grades 6, 7, and 9. For students entering K2 (kindergarten) and all other grades, the priority registration period is from February 11-March 22. All families must visit aBPS Welcome Center to complete the registration process.
If you are registering your child during the priority registration period, you can avoid lengthy wait times by visiting a Welcome Center during the dates listed below, according to the parent/guardian’s last name. Please note there is no advantage to registering early.
A-I: January 7-11
J-Q: January 14-18
R-Z: January 22-25
Anyone who registers at any time during their designated registration period has an equal opportunity of obtaining a seat in the school of their choice.
