Haley K-8 Pilot School hosts "Rockstar Recess" with Playworks
Playworks—the national nonprofit that brings safe and healthy play to schools across the country—announce the Haley K-8 Pilot School, a Boston public school, is the grand prize winner of Rock Star Recess! More than 3,000 schools entered the nationwide promotion to win a one-of-a-kind, unforgettable recess and two years of Playworks Pro Services.
The Rock Star Recess event took place on Tuesday, December 13, at Haley School. Hosted by Fox 25 News anchor Elizabeth Hopkins, the event featured a performance by celebrity guests Forever In Your Mind, plus plenty of eye-catching, kid-friendly elements and games! From an obstacle course and bounce house to stilt walkers and a magician, Playworks put together an extraordinary day for the kids to learn how to get in the game. Next year, when they have Playworks Pro, Haley School students will also learn how to be inclusive, play fair, become leaders, and resolve conflict peacefully.
Also in attendance at the event were Kathleen Sullivan, principal of the Haley K-8 Pilot School; Rahn Dorsey, chief of education for the City of Boston; Kelly Hung, Boston Public Schools (BPS) Instructional Superintendent; Avery Esdaile, BPS Athletics Director.
