"We're so grateful to RSM for their support and for investing in the future of our young people at the Warren Prescott School," said Mayor Martin J. Walsh. "InvestBPS allows companies, like RSM, to match interests with school needs, and we are already seeing the powerful results of this collaboration. A big thank you to Warren Prescott School Principal Michele Davis for her leadership and to RSM for helping to strengthen our schools and provide our students with incredible experiences."
This significant donation will contribute to an overhaul of the lighting system in the auditorium, technology supports for the autism strand and a myriad of academic and enrichment tools identified by the Warren-Prescott school community.
"RSM and Warren-Prescott are a great example of what a productive InvestBPS partnership could look like," said Boston School Committee Chairperson Michael O'Neill. "On behalf of the School Committee, I commend both Warren-Prescott and RSM for building a strong relationship that will indeed benefit the students who attend the school."
This evening at 6:30 pm at the Warren Prescott K-8 School, at 50 School Street in Charlestown, Mayor Walsh will join RSM's Boston Market Managing Partner, Chris MacKenzie, Warren Prescott Principal Michele Davis, and Boston Public Schools' Managing Director and Senior Advisor of External Affairs Makeeba McCreary in a check presentation ceremony to celebrate this partnership. Following the ceremony, students will perform the Warren-Prescott theatrical production of Hairspray.
"We are truly excited and look forward to a continued partnership. Our entire school community benefits due to the passion and teamwork of RSM", said Principal Davis. "We are extremely impressed by the RSM Boston Foundation and their incredible dedication and investment in helping the Warren Prescott K-8 School. I can state without hesitation that the RSM core value of social responsibility is lived daily by their employees. I am amazed at the commitment and generosity that the RSM team displays."
InvestBPS, a city-wide initiative that develops and sustains engaging school-business partnerships, was launched in September 2016 by Mayor Walsh. While the relationship between RSM and Warren-Prescott has flourished since 2015, it serves as an example of how partnerships can be tailored to meet both a school and a company's shared needs, priorities, and goals.
"This investment made by RSM is a tremendous opportunity for the Warren Prescott School students," said BPS Superintendent Tommy Chang. "I commend RSM leadership and personnel for their commitment to seeing our students grow and learn in environments that offer a quality learning experience."
"For RSM, it's about giving back to the community in which we live and work. We align our values with our Boston Foundation's mission to support organizations committed to helping children and their families. When we heard about the Mayor's call to action and having just visited the Warren Prescott School, we knew we needed to focus our efforts here. The school has such great programs, staff and students. We're looking forward to a lasting relationship with the Warren Prescott School," said Chris MacKenzie.
