School Open House Events to Help Families with School Registration Decisions

School Showcases Scheduled for This Thursday and Saturday

BOSTON - Monday, November 28, 2016 - The Boston Public Schools (BPS) is encouraging families to attend open house events on Thursday, December 1, and Saturday, December 3, to help make informed decisions about what schools to choose for next year. Registration for the 2017-18 school year begins on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

High School Showcase

The High School Showcase is open to all eighth-grade students and their families on Thursday, December 1, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building, 2300 Washington St., Roxbury. Headmasters, school leaders, teachers, and students from all district high schools will be on hand to share information about the school's culture; academic and athletic programs; school partnerships; and which schools have special application requirements.

Showcase In Our Schools (K-8)

On Saturday, December 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., all BPS Early Education Centers; and elementary, middle, and K-8 schools will hold open houses as part of the Showcase in Our Schools event. Parents considering a specific school for their child can meet with principals, school leaders, and teachers; take a tour of the school; and speak with current families to learn more.

Families who cannot attend these open house events may tour a school during a School Preview Day.
