Graduates Urge Parents to Become Learners,  Advocates  and Partners
This spring, 160 parents attended the Parent University Learning Conference and spent the entire day in classes, workshops and lectures gaining new skills and more information on how to be Teachers, Advocates, Leaders and Learners.  This past month, on May 26, thirty-six of those parents completed requirements and graduated from the program. Nearly 100 family and friends were in attendance to celebrate the hard work and dedication it took to finally graduate. T wo parent speakers, Dena Guthrie and Jalal Chafiq earned double the required points completing close to 45 hours of coursework. They both spoke about their growth, urging families to enroll in Parent University classes because it provided them with the confidence to be more involved and engaged in their child's school and education.
