  • Boston Summer Learning Reaches Record High Student Participation in 10th Year

    Mayor Martin J. Walsh joined community leaders, teachers, and students at the Franklin Park Zoo on Monday, May 20 to launch the 2019 5th Quarter of Learning, which will reach over 14,000 students in 160 programs, an all-time high that caps 10 years of innovation and growth.

  • Join Us At Pride! BPS and Boston Teachers Union to March in 2019 Pride Parade

    The Boston Public Schools (BPS) and the Boston Teachers Union (BTU) are proud to support and celebrate all members of our school community. We are excited to announce that for the third year in a row, we will be marching in the 2019 Boston Pride Parade, the city’s largest annual celebration to promote visibility and acceptance of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) and their allies.

  • Boston Latin School Wins High School Quiz Show State Championship

    Boston Latin School earned the title of High School Quiz Show™ State Champion on Saturday, May 11. First-time competitor Boston Latin School earned the top spot among the 16 Massachusetts high school teams that participated in the 10th anniversary season of WGBH’s televised academic tournament. The Boston Latin School team bested eight-time competitor Acton-Boxborough Regional High School for the State Championship title, which culminated with a final score of 475 to 300. Boston Latin School is High School Quiz Show’s first winner from Boston in the series’ 10 year history.

  • Dr. Brenda Cassellius Selected as Boston Public Schools Superintendent

    On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, the Boston School Committee voted 5-2 to offer the position of Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools (BPS) to Dr. Brenda Cassellius, who most recently stepped down as Commissioner of Education for the state of Minnesota.
