    MAYOR WU AND SCHOOL LEADERS UNVEIL “5TH QUARTER” SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR THOUSANDS OF BOSTON CHILDREN

    A projected 18,000 Boston students will attend 239 summer programs, located in every neighborhood of the city, Mayor Michelle Michelle Wu and Boston Public Schools Superintendent Mary Skipper announced with Boston After School & Beyond. A total of $4.2 million in city, state, and private funds will support nonprofits providing enrichment that complements academic learning throughout the city.

    ALL BPS SCHOOLS CLOSED - Friday, June 21, 2024

    All Boston Public Schools will be closed on Friday, June 21, 2024. This decision was made after further consultation with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), the City of Boston Department of Transportation and the Boston Police about student safety and operational concerns city-wide.

    MAYOR MICHELLE WU, BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS, UMASS BOSTON PRESENT INAUGURAL FULL RIDE SCHOLARSHIP TO GRADUATE OF BCLA/MCCORMACK

    Mayor Michelle Wu, Boston Public Schools (BPS) and UMass Boston (UMB) announced an inaugural scholarship to a graduate of the BCLA/McCormack, to be renamed the Ruth Batson Academy. The new scholarship – the Robert and Ruth Starratt Endowed Scholarship – is UMass Boston’s largest endowed scholarship fund. It underscores the deep partnership among the City of Boston, Boston Public Schools, and UMass Boston to build collaboration to foster college-level opportunities for high school students.
