    BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS CELEBRATES VALEDICTORIANS AT 25TH ANNUAL LUNCHEON

    Superintendent Mary Skipper, Mayor Michelle Wu, and Boston School Committee Chairperson Jeri Robinson honored the outstanding accomplishments of the 2023 Boston Public Schools valedictorians yesterday at Fenway Park. The ceremony brought together a diverse group of high-achieving students, their families, and esteemed members of the community.

    DESPITE INCREASE IN CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM RATES STATEWIDE AND NATIONALLY, BPS' RATES SHOW SIGNS OF PROGRESS

    While school absenteeism rates soared across the state and country during the pandemic, the Boston Public Schools' work to combat chronic absenteeism in the district has begun to yield positive results, with a 7% decline in chronic absenteeism across the district, with even bigger gains for students of color and students with disabilities.

    BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS CELEBRATES FIRST STEM FLIGHT GRADUATES

    The inaugural class of 16 graduates of Boston Public Schools' first STEM Flight Program received their "wings" Thursday, May 25, 2026 at the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester during a pinning ceremony. The program, directed by Marcus James, provided these Burke High School students with a comprehensive, eight-month curriculum that delved into various aspects of the aviation industry.

    Mass General Brigham Sports Medicine provided Boston Public School athletes free preseason physicals ahead of the 2023-24 athletics seasons at Madison Park High School in Roxbury. This event marked the third consecutive year, and the sixth time overall, the healthcare system performed the service for Boston Public Schools. Mass General Brigham's athletic trainers and clinical connections provide comprehensive care across all sports seasons for Boston Public Schools, which includes participation from over 2,000 student athletes.

    Boston Public Schools is proud to announce the successful conclusion of the 16th Annual Wellness Summit, dedicated to promoting all students' social, emotional, and physical health and wellness. The summit aimed to enhance healthy development and improve students' readiness to learn by actively fostering a culture that cares for the whole child. More than 200 attendees from across the district joined Tuesday's event.

    BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT SKIPPER, HALE ELEMENTARY STUDENTS CELEBRATE LAUNCH OF RED SOX, MASSMUTUAL FOUNDATION'S FENWAY PARK LEARNING LAB

    Boston Public School Superintendent Mary Skipper accompanied Nathan Hale Elementary students to Fenway Park to celebrate the launch of the Fenway Park Learning Lab, an immersive, educational 60-minute tour that features visits to the Green Monster, Fenway Farms, the Red Sox Hall of Fame, and other parts of the ballpark. A partnership between the Red Sox Foundation, the MassMutual Foundation, and Fenway Park Tours, the program is designed to complement classroom curriculum in areas including statistics, history, science, and financial literacy, and is funded by a grant from the MassMutual Foundation.

    BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS RECEIVE MILLIONS IN COMMUNITY PRESERVATION ACT FUNDS FOR PLAYGROUNDS

    The City of Boston and the Community Preservation Committee have awarded three Boston Public Schools a total of $3 million in Community Preservation Act funds to renovate their playgrounds. Each school will receive $1 million to go towards updating its outdoor play spaces. The funding will support upgrading the outdoor play spaces at the William Monroe Trotter School, the Mary E. Curley K-8 School, and the Nathan Hale School.
