BPS Announces Capital Budget and BuildBPS Plans to Improve Student Experience
Superintendent Brenda Cassellius today presents a capital budget and BuildBPS update on May 12 proposing a plan to provide clearer pathways for students, build five new schools, and significantly upgrade current school buildings. The guiding principles for the updated plan are to achieve equitable access to educational opportunities and programs; provide excellent buildings that promote health, enhance learning, and motivate students; and ensure predictability and transparency in the district’s facilities master planning process.

Boston Public Schools' Julia Bott Named Massachusetts Elementary School Principal of the Year
Principal Julia Bott of the Ellis Mendell School in Roxbury has been named the 2021 Thomas C. Passios Elementary Principal of the Year and the National Elementary School Principal of the Year by the Massachusetts School Administrators Association.

Boston Public Schools Announces Summer Learning Opportunities to Support Student Engagement and Development
BPS, in partnership with Boston After School & Beyond, announced a series of programs for students to access support services, academic recovery and acceleration initiatives, and other skill-focused enrichment activities over the summer. These programs will take place at schools and community organizations, and feature a variety of academic and enrichment activities, both in-person and remote, serving all neighborhoods.

UNIQLO Donates 75,000 AIRism Face Masks to Boston Public Schools In an Effort to Maintain Overall Well-being
Global retailer UNIQLO recently donated 75,000 AIRism face masks to BPS. These protective face coverings will be distributed to BPS students, as well as teachers and faculty to provide a safe, healthy and productive learning environment. UNIQLO’s donation of AIRism face masks will provide the community with the personal protective equipment (PPE) needed to maintain their wellbeing throughout the summer and beyond.
