  • Red Sox to Hold Commencement Ceremonies for Multiple Boston Public Schools at Fenway Park

    The Red Sox today announced that throughout the month of June the club will offer Fenway Park as a venue for Boston Public Schools (BPS) graduation ceremonies for 15 of the 38 graduating high school classes across the city’s public school system. The opportunity to host a graduation at Fenway Park was offered to all BPS schools. Some schools had already secured outdoor traditional venues and other smaller schools will be hosting at other locations around the city.

  • Boston Public Schools Welcomes New Student Representative to the Boston School Committee

    Boston Mayor Kim Janey welcomed Boston Public Schools (BPS) student Xyra Mercer to City Hall on April 27 for a swearing-in ceremony to announce Xyra as the new Student Representative to the Boston School Committee. Xyra was elected by her peers on the Boston Student Advisory Council (BSAC).

  • Superintendent Cassellius Announces Commission, Timeline for Deployment of Federal Stimulus Funds

    The Commission will advise the Superintendent and BPS on the key focus areas for these new investments, with a commitment to allocating the funding in an equitable and sustainable manner. BPS will leverage the new funding over three years and ensure the new opportunities can be supported for years to come. The Commission will have five meetings, twice monthly over the next two months with the final meeting to be held on July 1, during which the plan will be presented and posted for a formal 30-day public review and comment period.
