EdVestors Awards $100,000 School on the Move Prize to the James Otis Elementary School in East Boston
EdVestors, a school improvement organization in Boston, awarded its $100,000 Thomas W. Payzant School on the Move Prize to the James Otis Elementary School in East Boston. The Prize, now in its 16th year, recognizes rapidly-improving schools that have made exemplary progress in advancing the academic achievement of all students.

CITY OF BOSTON ANNOUNCES APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR BOSTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE
Mayor Kim Janey announced applications are now being accepted by the Boston School Committee Nominating Panel, which is composed of parents, teachers, principals and representatives of the business and higher education communities, to fill four positions on the Boston School Committee. The positions include two 2-year terms, and two 4-year terms. Applications are due November 5 and November 24.

CITY OF BOSTON CELEBRATES COMPLETION OF ATHLETIC FIELD IMPROVEMENTS AT MADISON PARK-O’BRYANT EDUCATIONAL COMPLEX
The City of Boston’s Parks and Recreation Department joined stakeholders from Boston’s youth sports and nonprofit communities to celebrate the ribbon cutting of new football, track, baseball, and softball fields shared by Madison Park Technical Vocational High School and the John D. O'Bryant School of Mathematics and Science. The project will benefit youth and school football programs that use the Madison Park Technical Vocational High School football field in Roxbury for practices and games.

ESSER III Announcement
Boston Public Schools (BPS) today, submitted a grant application to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to receive $276 million in federal relief funds. To date, BPS has directed nearly $160 million in Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds, money that has gone directly to schools and funded critical health and safety measures, upgrades to facilities, and programming and staff to focus on students’ social and emotional wellbeing as they have returned to full-time in-person learning.

Throughout October, BPS and Success Boston, along with multiple nonprofit and community partners, will collaborate on a campaign to encourage students at all grade levels to begin planning for college and their career.
