Alternative Education High Schools 

• Boston Adult Technical Academy (BATA) & Boston Adult Technical Academy/ East Boston, (BATA/East)  provides a safe, student-centered, and culturally sustaining learning environment where students develop the knowledge and skills needed to earn their high school diploma. The school empowers students to become agents of positive change in their communities while fostering strong partnerships between the school, families, and the broader community to support each student's success. BATA is committed to honoring students' diverse cultural backgrounds, experiences, and strengths while providing equitable opportunities for academic achievement, personal growth, and future success.
• Boston Day and Evening Academy (BDEA) BDEA is a student-centered, competency-based school serving students whose needs have not been met in traditional settings. Through a rigorous academic program, comprehensive postsecondary planning, and wraparound social-emotional supports, BDEA prepares students for success in college, careers, and life.
  • BDEA 2.0 uses competency-based and project-based learning to deliver engaging, relevant instruction. Each project integrates at least one core academic competency and one emancipatory competency, equipping Black and Brown young men with the academic skills and critical consciousness to examine, challenge, and act on systems of oppression.
• Greater Egleston (GEHS) Our school serves students ages 15–22 who are seeking an alternative to the traditional high school experience. With class sizes capped at 15 students, we provide personalized instruction and a supportive learning environment. Every student is part of an advisory, where they receive individualized support in academics, postsecondary planning, and personal growth. Our program emphasizes real-world learning through weekly internships and career exploration, giving students hands-on experience while preparing for life after high school. • Boston Collaborative High School (BCHS) comprises three specialized programs designed to provide flexible, alternative pathways to graduation through personalized instruction, blended learning, and project-based learning models.
  • BCHS/ Global Learners (GL)
    Global Learners is an alternative education program designed to support English learners. The program provides personalized direct instruction, blended learning opportunities, online learning, and project-based learning experiences. Students demonstrate mastery of curriculum objectives through individualized pathways. Graduates earn a diploma from Boston Collaborative High School.
  • BCHS/ LogOn Academy (LogOn)
    LogOn Academy provides non-traditional learning and postsecondary preparation through a blended learning model that combines online coursework with classroom instruction. The program is designed for students who are comfortable with independent learning and are prepared to engage in an intensive computer-based learning environment. Graduates earn a diploma from Boston Collaborative High School.
  • BCHS/ St. Mary’s Alternative School (SMS)
    St. Mary’s Alternative School serves school-aged expectant and parenting young women. The program uses an intensive blended learning approach that integrates online learning, project-based learning, and individualized academic support. Students receive opportunities to continue their education while balancing parenting responsibilities. Graduates earn a diploma from Boston Collaborative High School.

• The Accelerated Diploma Program (ADP) at Brighton High School serves students from Brighton High School and across the District. The program is dedicated to helping young people achieve their goal of earning a high school diploma while preparing them for success beyond graduation. ADP fosters a diverse, inclusive, and supportive learning community where students are encouraged to overcome challenges, develop academic and life skills, and build confidence as they pursue their future goals. Through personalized support and guidance, students are empowered to become advocates for themselves and their futures.
  • District students who successfully complete the program will earn a high school diploma awarded through Boston Collaborative High School.
• Bridge to Success Academy (BSA) exists to provide students with a renewed opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe, supportive, and relationship-centered environment. The Academy is designed to re-engage overaged, undercredited, and disengaged learners through personalized instruction, restorative practices, credit recovery, and college and career readiness experiences.  Our purpose is to bridge gaps in learning, confidence, and opportunity while empowering students to graduate with the skills, resilience, and direction needed to thrive in college, career, and life. All students graduating from Bridge to Success Academy will receive their diploma from Boston Collaborative High School.
• Roads to Success @ Charlestown High School (RTS) Serving students from across BPS high schools, our program provides a rigorous, competency-based learning experience designed for students who have faced challenges in traditional academic settings. Through a small, personalized learning community, students receive individualized support, meaningful relationships, and the opportunity to build the skills and competencies needed for success. 
• LifexDesign Academy is a Tier 3 therapeutic academic program designed for students whose social-emotional and behavioral needs require support beyond Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions. The program serves as a transitional setting for students referred due to significant Code of Conduct violations or involvement with the Department of Youth Services.
  • LifeXDesign Academy integrates individualized academic instruction with embedded mental health and behavioral supports to create a structured, nurturing, and responsive learning environment. Through a coordinated approach that addresses academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs, the program helps students stabilize, rebuild engagement in learning, develop essential skills, and achieve measurable growth in both academic performance and overall well-being.
• William J. Ostiguy School of Recovery (Ostiguy) Provides a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive learning environment grounded in restorative practices. The program serves students at various stages of their recovery journey, helping them build on their individual strengths while fostering personal growth, academic achievement, and long-term success. Upon completion, graduates earn a diploma from Boston Collaborative High School.

Boston Collaborative Middle School (BCMS) provides a structured, relationship-centered learning environment for students in grades 7 and 8 who benefit from additional academic and social-emotional support. Through small class sizes, personalized instruction, and high expectations, students build strong foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, science, and the humanities while developing confidence, resilience, and effective learning habits. BCMS fosters a supportive community where every student is known, challenged, and encouraged to grow. The program prepares students to successfully transition to high school with the academic skills, self-confidence, and mindset needed for long-term success.

• Boston Central Adult High School (BCAHS) Serves students ages 18 and older with flexible, supportive learning opportunities designed to help them achieve their academic, career, and personal goals. The program provides pathways for students to earn their diploma while developing the skills, confidence, and preparation needed for future success. 
• The Adult Learning Center The Adult Learning Center provides comprehensive adult education opportunities designed to support learners in achieving their academic and personal goals. Through English Language Learning programs and high school preparation, students strengthen essential skills needed for continued education, career advancement, and community engagement. Students have the opportunity to pursue a traditional high school diploma while receiving the guidance and support necessary to successfully re-engage with education and build pathways toward future opportunities.

The Re-Engagement Center (REC) serves as the district's single point of entry for students seeking to re-enroll in Alternative Education. 

The REC provides a caring, accessible, and supportive environment where students receive the guidance, counseling, and resources needed to successfully return to school and stay on track toward earning their high school diploma. In partnership with the Parent Information Center (PIC), the REC helps students navigate the re-enrollment process, overcome barriers, and reconnect with educational opportunities that support their long-term success.
