Extended School Year (ESY)

  • Hello BPS Families,

We are excited to welcome you back for the Extended School Year(ESY) 2021. For summer 2021, the Boston Public Schools will provide in-person services for Extended School Year (ESY)2021, however families will have the option to opt out of in-person learning and to receive remote learning instruction instead. Families have the option to choose if they would like their child to be present 5-days in-person or 5-days remote. Our program this year will run for the dates listed below. The start time of the program will be dependent on the site your child is assigned to and will be provided to you when you RSVP using the link below. We understand that the past year has been challenging for all and hope to make this summer’s program both rigorous and fun. Your child will be able to access the services as outlined in their IEP,  in addition to a schedule that includes ELA, Math, STEM and more. Please use this website to find more information about ESY 2021. You will also be receiving correspondence via email so please be on the lookout. If you have any questions prior to the start of the program, please call (617) 635-8599 or email ESY@bostonpublicschools.org

We look forward to a successful summer of learning.

Current BPS Super Sites will remain open through the summer, and any school that has a district-sponsored summer program will also provide meals to students onsite. In addition, the City of Boston and community partners will operate dozens of additional meal sites, open throughout the summer. You can view a list of locations and hours for meal sites at bostonpublicschools.org/freemeals. Additionally, under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, the Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) program will continue during the summer. We will provide more information about summer meals and food accessibility in the coming weeks.
