The Ellis Mendell Elementary School, located at 164 School Street on the Roxbury/Jamaica Plain line, serves approximately 300 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 6. The school serves a diverse population of students from the Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Mission Hill, Roslindale and West Roxbury communities.

The Mendell community has been working very hard to ensure that each and every Mendell student will receive a rigorous, engaging and well-rounded elementary school education.  There is an enhanced focus on the core academic subjects and newly instituted enrichment programs including before and after-school programming, art and music education, physical education, 21st century science education and comprehensive student support and counseling services.  The Mendell is also expanding its inclusive offerings to ensure that all learners receive the academic support and challenges necessary to reach their full potential in the classroom setting.
