WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO
ESOG Division comprises four vital BPS departments: the Office of Equity, the Office of the Opportunity Gaps, the Office of Recruitment, Cultivation & Diversity, and the Office of Strategy and Innovation. Together, these four offices supports every department and every school to realize the district's comprehensive, ambitious, systemic strategic plan; aligns its work to the BPS Opportunity and Achievement Gap Policy; and designs and implements policies, programs, protocols, and curricula intentionally focused on meeting the needs of and advancing academic outcomes for students from historically marginalized groups.

WELCOME ADDRESS FROM DR. CHARLES GRANDSON
Welcome BPS Community & Friends,
W.E.B Du Bois once said " a system can not fail those it was never meant to protect" and that is true of the American Education system. The Division of Equity, Strategy & Opportunity Gap was created to ensure that the Boston Public Schools District breaks that system and actively takes steps to eliminate all opportunities and achievement gaps for both students and staff that have been historically marginalized.
Our vision comes straight from the 2016 Opportunity & Achievement Gaps Policy, which states " every child, in every classroom, in every school of the Boston Public School system has the same opportunity to achieve the greatness within them as anybody else." ESOG works diligently to achieve this through programs like Exam School Initiative, 24/7 Respect Program, Affinity Groups, Community Equity Roundtables.
We believe that the community has the answers to solve their own problems and ESOG is here to provide you with the resources to get it done. Please check out the resources we have provided online and we look forward to our continued partnership to ensure all our students achieve greatness within them.
In Solidarity,
Dr. Charles Grandson
