The Boston Public Schools welcomes volunteers of all ages who are willing to dedicate their time and skills to support students and teachers.

The school district contracts with Boston Partners in Education, Inc., to recruit, screen, train, place and support volunteer academic mentors in the Boston Public Schools. School volunteer programs are designed to provide ongoing support to students in grades K-12 during the school day and beyond. Boston Partners in Education coordinates tutoring and mentoring programs in literacy, math, enrichment, MCAS preparation, career education and more.

If you are a teacher seeking a classroom volunteer, be sure to get the permission of your principal or headmaster, then complete a Volunteer Request Form on-line.

If you are interested in becoming a classroom volunteer, visit the Boston Partners in Education website and submit a registration form. All prospective volunteers will be interviewed, as well as CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and SORI (Sexual Offender Record Information) checked. If approved, the volunteer will receive training and orientation, be matched with one or more students, and be supported throughout the school year to ensure a successful and rewarding experience.
