Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: What is the Parent InfoCenter?
A: The InfoCenter is a website and mobile app (iPhone and Android) that you can use to listen to previously sent messages and set your contact preferences. You can create an account with the email address that is on file with your child's school.
Q: How do I opt in (or out) of text messaging?
To opt IN to text messaging, send a text to 67587 that says Y or YES
To opt OUT of text messaging, send a text to 67587 that says CANCEL
Q: There are two SchoolMessenger apps in the App Store; which one should I use?
A: The SchoolMessenger InfoCenter is the parent app and the SchoolMessenger Admin app is meant for school administrators. The links on the right side of this page will give you the correct parent app.

Q: I'm not receiving calls from my child's school. How can I verify that my contact information is correct?
A: If you have an account in the SIS, you can login to sis.mybps.org and click on the Family tab and the Contacts side-tab to view your contact information. You can also use the Parent InfoCenter (right) to verify the same information.

Q: I received a new phone number or email address. Can I update that myself?
A: Currently your child's school has to update the information in the system. SchoolMessenger is including the ability for parents to update contact information in a future release but we do not have a timeline at this point.
Q: I received a text message to opt-in to text messages. How should I respond?
A: If you would like to continue to receive text messages, respond with "Y" or "Yes". If you do not want to receive future messages, you can ignore the opt-in message or reply with "N" or "No". You can opt out of text messaging at any time by texting "Cancel" to 67587.
Q: I do not have a child in the Boston Public Schools; how do I stop receiving calls?
A: When you receive a call, press '5' and follow the prompts to unsubscribe from future messages.
