Extended Learning Time
What is Extended Learning Time?Extended Learning Time (ELT) is any time beyond the traditional school day that is used to expand options for high-quality learning. ELT occurs in many different forms, but the most common in BPS are:
- Lengthening the School Day (Expanded Learning Time)
- After School Programs
- Summer School
- Vacation Academies
What is the Office of Extended Learning Time? The Office of Extended Learning Time oversees grants and District initiatives that support ELT. Our main projects are: Schedule A ELT, 21st Century CLC Grants, Mass. ELT Grants, Summer Learning, and Vacation/Acceleration Academies. While certain grants do provide funding for and create partnerships with outside providers, the Office of ELT does not coordinate the majority of after and/or before school partnerships.
