As the instructional and social-emotional leader of the Hennigan School, it is my responsibility to engage the staff in empowering our students to be the problem-solvers of the world’s future problems and supporting our students in naming and becoming the change they want to see.  Every student is a critical thinker, he/she just needs the correct strategies, words of encouragement, and caring adults to guide him/her along.  At the Hennigan School, our qualified staff is ready to be these adults in your child’s life.  As the staff uses their individual passions, crafts, and styles, all students, at the Hennigan, can thrive and grow from where they are at.  Your child(ren) have great successes in front of them and our school is one step on that path.  

Mrs. Kathleen Shorter has a proven record as an instructional leader of two Massachusetts urban schools in Lawrence and Lowell that closed the achievement gap consistently over the past eight years and understands firsthand how effective instructional strategies drive these kinds of results. She has a Masters in Elementary Education from Lesley University, a CAGS in School Administration from AIC and a MBA from SNHU.  She has a strong understanding of how developing students’ social and emotional skills can positively affect school climate, build citizenship and improve student academic achievement.   With a relentless passion for education, she embraces the chance to partner with—and advocate for—the students and staff at the Hennigan School.
