Welcome to Gardner Pilot Academy! The faculty and staff join me in saying we are happy to have you as a part of the Gardner family.

As a school community we believe deeply in our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and academic excellence. This means that as a school we stand for kindness, inclusion and social justice for ALL.  In recent months there has been an increase in hateful language and incidents of harassment and intimidation across our country.  At GPA we feel strongly that we send the message to all of our students, families, partners and our community that we do not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment or hate speech and that we will vigorously implement and actively enforce our safe and welcoming school policy to ensure that all of its daily operations are characterized by fairness, respect, and equity.  It is important to note that the Boston Public Schools and the laws of Massachusetts protect the rights of every student and their family to be educated in an environment free of discrimination and bias. It is the expectation of every member of our community to treat everyone with mutual respect and kindness. We are asking that every family review our Safe and Welcoming School Policy with their child and talk about the expectations for ensuring that GPA is safe, welcoming and inclusive to all.

We welcome your participation and support this year and encourage you to become involved on our School Parent Council and our School Governing Board. Gardner parents are our partners in the important job of educating the children of our community. Please join us all on September 26th starting at 5:30p.m for our Back to School Night for all Gardner families! We hope to see all of you there and please feel free to contact the school or our parent coordinator Nicolasa Lopez if you have any questions.

    Frequently Asked Questions for Parents:

When does school start for the 2018-2019 school year?

The school year begins on September 6th for all students in grades 1-8 and on September 11th for all incoming kindergarten students (K0/K1/K2).  The school day for students starts at 8:30 and ends at 2:30PM.

Are breakfast and lunches served at school?

YES!  All students at GPA receive FREE breakfast and lunch daily

Where do students go on the first day of school?

All teachers will meet the students on the playground starting at 8:15 on the first day of school.

What do you need from a parent before my child starts school?

All students entering Boston Public Schools for the first time must have a physical examination.  Massachusetts’s laws require every child to be fully immunized including chicken pox. Proof of immunization must be brought to the school nurse.  The school also needs an emergency card for every child.

Can we visit the classroom before school starts?

YES!  We would love you to come visit the school.  All families are invited to a tour and welcome session on August 27th at 3PM at GPA. This is geared towards families new to GPA but open for any family.  Incoming Kindergarten families can visit the classrooms and meet the teachers on Thursday September 6th. Parents are encouraged to come with their child to visit on that day.

Does the school offer before and after school programs?

YES!  Before School is available for students starting at 7:30 AM free of charge.  After school is offered every day from 2:30-6:00 starting on September 10th. Please see Jennifer Barrios in the office for more information.
