Humanities at JQUS
6th - 10th Grade MYP
Students in grades 6-10 have a double period for Humanities. This class covers the goals for both English Language Arts and History/Social Studies. Students learn the facts about history and geography, learn to read and write many texts in different forms, and read a range of texts including novels, poetry, drama, and non-fiction. Special attention is paid to the students' development in oral language (discussions, presentations, speaking) and to developing a global perspective in both literature and history. Students meet the IB Middle Years Program outcomes for both areas (English language and literature; Individual and societies), as well as meeting MA Common Core objectives.
