Health Education plays a vital role in supporting the academic success and overall well-being of Boston Public Schools (BPS) students. As we look toward the future, the BPS Office of Health and Wellness is proud to present a Strategic Plan for Health Education (2025–2030)—a visionary and actionable roadmap designed to guide the priorities, policies, and practices that shape the delivery of comprehensive health education across the district.

Rooted in equity, student empowerment, and whole-child development, this strategic plan affirms the district's commitment to providing all students with high-quality, skills-based health education from PreK through grade 12. Our goal is to ensure every student develops the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to make healthy decisions, build positive relationships, manage emotional, mental, and physical health, advocate for themselves and their communities, and access health resources effectively.

Over the next five years, this plan will steer our collective efforts to expand access to health education, strengthen the health educator workforce, invest in educator development, and cultivate inclusive, engaging health education experiences for every student. In doing so, we will support the physical, social, and mental health of our students, and their capacity to thrive as lifelong learners and leaders. The 2025–2030 Health Education Strategic Plan serves as a blueprint for sustainable progress, built on the voices of students, educators, families, community partners, and school and district leaders. It represents a shared vision for what is possible when health is recognized as a foundation for learning.
