24/7 Respect: FAQ for School Districts

Why should schools implement the 24/7 Respect program?

24/7 Respect is a free, engaging approach to teaching K-12 students how to prevent and address student-on-student bias-based incidents and sexual misconduct both during and outside of school.

When students understand their rights and responsibilities, they are more likely to think before they act, and to speak up when they know something is not right. 24/7 Respect provides user-friendly curriculum resources and lessons that empower students to actively make better choices, and report concerns to designated school personnel. 24/7 Respect spurs open, relevant, engaging conversations that cultivate safe and welcoming schools for all.

When should we implement 24/7 Respect in our district?

24/7 Respect can be implemented in your school at any point during the school year that will work well for your students and educators.

Will this be a lot of work for our school or district leaders?

BPS is providing schools and district leaders with the tools and structure to implement the 24/7 Respect program. All partnering schools and districts will receive:

  • Access to the '24/7 Respect' video in English and in Spanish through a YouTube link
  • English video will include closed-captions in Arabic, Cape Verdean Creole, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, German, Haitian Creole, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Urdu, and Vietnamese
  • Grade level specific lesson plans
  • English language learner support guides
  • Special Education student support guides
  • Implementation guide for school leaders, including detailed rollout ideas and timelines, sample communications to families and staff
