June 2022 ESSER II and III Detailed Report
This ESSER II and III Report is an update from the draft plan, released July 9, 2021, which outlined the BPS investment strategy for ESSER II funds totaling approximately $123 million, and also provides more details on the ESSER III funding plan released on February 28, 2022.
This report details how funding decisions were made and accounted for by BPS leadership for ESSER II and ESSER III funds, and how input from the community informed those decisions. Our process included extensive input from the community and consultation from the ESSER Commission that included people just like you to ensure that we meet the needs of students.
In addition, BPS reviewed past studies of Boston’s needs and commissioned additional research from the Rennie Center. We examined our strengths to build on and leveraged research to build this plan. In order to determine where to invest, the BPS team identified evidenced-based practices in each of our Seven Focus areas, taking the time to carefully consider what leads to the most impact for our students. This report details how our budget aligns to those seven focus areas. It also provides a comprehensive description of all ESSER II and III investments, including each district and school investment in the appendix.
