Science Classroom Observation Support

The Science Department strongly encourages school leaders and teachers to use the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education created What to Look For documents (see below) as a guide when conducting science observations. Each grade-level document provides an overview of the main science concepts for each domain as well as examples of what teachers and students should be doing linked to specific indicators within the MA DESE Standards of Effective Practice.

Schools may reach out to the Science Program Directors for assistance in using these tools.
