Chapter 74 Admissions

Chapter 74 Career & Technical Education (CTE) Programs offer in-depth occupational training which prepares students for college and high demand, high skill careers.

Students in Chapter 74 Programs:

  • Receive training required for entry-level employment in an in-demand career field 
  • Spend 900+ hours engaged in technical training; achieve a safety and industry certification; and may earn credit toward college or an apprenticeship program
  • Engage in  "Co-Op" or internship experiences with local employers
  • Learn key technical knowledge and skills that follow MA State Frameworks developed in partnership with industry 
  • Are taught by teachers with extensive industry experience 
  • Participate in college and career planning  through the MyCAP process

If your child is interested in applying to a Chapter 74 program for Grade 9:

  • Families of current BPS students should complete the application linked below for the school that is of interest to their student. Families should also rank the school that they have selected on their BPS school choice form during the upcoming Registration and Assignment period.  
  • Families of students in non-BPS schools should use Great Starts to register for BPS, rank the schools that are of interest to your student, and complete the individual school application linked below.  
  • All Families will receive their assignment notification by the end of March 2026.
