Dr. Angela Hedley-Mitchell

Dr. Angela Hedley-Mitchell

Interim Chief of Teaching and Learning

Dr. Angela Hedley-Mitchell assumed the role of Interim Chief of Teaching and Learning in July 2025. She has served BPS for the last 25 years, most recently as BPS Executive Director of Humanities for the previous three years and is very familiar with the work across the Teaching and Learning department. Dr. Hedley-Mitchell is excited to support educators in serving our students across the BPS. Angela also brings a wealth of BPS experience, including former roles within the Office of Teaching and Learning as Program Director for History/Social Studies K-12 and co-director of the Academic Response Team, as well as Assistant Head of School for the Kennedy Health Careers Academy. Prior to her roles in school and district administration, Angela served as a high school history and economics teacher.

She holds a B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Northeastern University, a C.A.G.S. in Education Leadership from Simmons College, and an Ed.D. in Entrepreneurial Leadership from Johns Hopkins University, School of Education. Angela is a mother of three children, two who are students in the Boston Public Schools.
