BOSTON, MA - DECEMBER 5, 2025 -The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Women's Network selected Superintendent Mary Skipper as one of the 2026 Pinnacle Awards honorees for Achievement in Management – Government. The annual Pinnacle Awards are one of the region's highest professional distinctions for women leaders, recognizing their achievements in business, government, and management. This prestigious award recognizes Superintendent Skipper's leadership and her commitment to building a stronger, more equitable school district for Boston's students, families, and educators.

"It is an honor to be recognized alongside so many remarkable women leaders who are shaping the future of our region," said Superintendent Mary Skipper. "It takes a village to support our school communities and this award reflects the dedication of our educators, staff, families, and partners who work every day to uplift our students. Since her selection by the Boston School Committee in 2022, Superintendent Skipper has championed transformative initiatives to modernize school facilities, expand multilingual education, strengthen pathways from school to career, and ensure that every student receives a high-quality education in a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment.

Superintendent Sipper will be recognized at the 2026 Pinnacle Awards Ceremony on January 30, 2026, where more than 1,200 business, civic, and community leaders will gather to celebrate this year's honorees.

What is ParentSquare?

Boston Public Schools (BPS) partnered with ParentSquare, a school-to-home communications platform, in August 2024 to improve communication and deepen engagement with families.

ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent or caregiver, using their preferred email address and phone number. This allows the individual to receive email, text, and/or app notifications.

The district encourages parents and caregivers to register for an account so that they can begin receiving classroom, school, and district updates.

What parents and caregivers can do with ParentSquare

Receive all communications from the district, schools, classrooms and activity groups in one centralized place;
Track school and district news, activities and events;
Direct message your child’s teachers, staff and other parents;
Choose your preferred mode of communication (text, email, app);
Choose to receive messages immediately or all at once at 6 p.m.;
Choose your preferred language (with improved translations features) Participate in group messages;
Sign-up for parent-teacher conferences; Use a family-friendly app with all of this information; and much more!

If you would like to update your contact information, please click on your name in the top right corner and go to "My Account." From your account page, click "Edit Account" and you will be able to change your contact information. If you receive an error message when trying to edit your phone number or email, please contact your child’s school.Please note that It can take up to 24 hours for your contact information to be synced from Aspen to ParentSquare.

How do I change my ParentSquare password?

English is not my preferred language. How can I receive communications in my preferred language?

Why does my ParentSquare account have my spouse's name on it?

It is recommended that each spouse have their own cell phone or email for emergency situations. However, if you and your spouse share an email address (or have provided the same email address for both of you in our contact records,) only one spouse will be able to log in to ParentSquare using that email address. The other spouse should use their cell phone number to log in or contact your child’s school to update your contact information.

Do I have to use ParentSquare on my SmartPhone?

How do I find the ParentSquare app?

Will all teachers be using ParentSquare for home-to-school communications moving forward?

Is it possible to contact my child's teacher privately?

Yes, you can contact your child's teacher privately by using the direct messaging tool. On the home page, click on "Messaging" in the left sidebar. From here, you can send a direct message to your child's teacher that only you and the teacher can only see. You can also send messages to other staff members at the school, such as your child's coaches and club leaders. To learn more on how to send a direct message, click here.

When communications are sent, who will receive the message?

We are a split-family with restrictions. Will my ex see my contact information?

My babysitter/grandmother/uncle would like information about inclement weather closures/delays, but they cannot create an account. Can I share my username/password with them?

I am not a direct parent or guardian but would like to be notified about school closings. How can I be notified?

Will my child have a ParentSquare account?

Will ParentSquare be used for classroom assignments?

I am getting too many messages from ParentSquare. Is it possible to receive fewer notifications?

Yes, you can customize your notification settings by going to your homepage and clicking on your name in the top right corner and selecting "My Account" from the drop down menu. On your account page, you can find your notification settings in the top right corner and click "Change This" to customize your notifications. If you are receiving too many notifications, try changing to the “Digest” setting where you will only receive one condensed message in the evening.
