The Boston Red Sox, in partnership with JetBlue, distributed over 40,000 Red Sox hats to Boston Public Schools (BPS) students and staff at 104 K-8 schools across the city. The 2025 hat giveaway launched with an event at Gardner Pilot Academy in Allston. The hat giveaway to BPS students began in 2017 to connect baseball to the next generation of fans.

Farm to School recently recognized BPS's Office of Food and Nutrition Services as “Kale Blazers,” leaders in the farm-to-school movement who demonstrate excellence in bringing healthy, locally grown foods and food education to students.
In January, the Massachusetts School Counselors Assoication named Sugeily Santos, a 7th and 8th grade school counsleor at the Curley K-8 School in Jamaica Plain, as the 2025 Massachusetts School Counselor of the Year.

Mayor Michelle Wu announced the City of Boston has executed a Lease Agreement and BPS Stadium Usage Agreement with Boston Unity Soccer Partners, paving the way for the largest investment into BPS Athletics and White Stadium since it opened in 1949.

April is National School Library Month!
In celebration, Boston Public Schools is highlighting a few great school libraries across the District.
Self-taught musician Mendez Pierre, an eighth grader at the Curley K-8 School, and Miguel Gonzalez, a Mattapan resident and Holmes Innovation School 6th grader with a love for aviation, were recognized during the Mayor’s annual speech at Fenway’s MGM Music Hall on Thursday, March 19, before a packed audience.
For “Read Across America Week,” Mayor Michelle Wu visited the Shaw-Taylor Elementary School for a Read Aloud Event with BPS students.
BPS Senior Deputy Superintendent of Academics Dr. Linda Chen joined the Trotter School Community to celebrate the importance of reading and literacy.
As we recognize Black History Month in BPS, we reaffirm our commitment to continuously build trust with our families and community members to eradicate the legacy of racism from our school system and close opportunity gaps for our Black students who have been historically underserved.
