Dr. Monica Hall
Director of Leadership Development
Dr. Monica Hall is the Director of Leadership Development for the Boston Public Schools. In this role, she oversees the development of first- and second-year principals and heads of school. In addition, Dr. Hall oversees professional development opportunities for assistant principals and other administrative team members, coaches administrative team members, leads the recruitment and hiring process for school leaders, and develops pathways and pipelines for future school leaders. Prior to coming to Boston Public Schools, she was a principal, district director, assistant principal, instructional coach, and teacher mentor. Her career spans three states -- Georgia, Massachusetts, and Texas -- in both public and charter school districts. She has worked in the field of education for the past two decades. Monica holds degrees in Business Administration, Elementary Education, Guidance Counseling, and Educational Leadership. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and five children.
Patrick Vale
Assistant Director of Leadership
Patrick Vale is the Assistant Director of Leadership Development for Boston Public Schools. He began teaching as an adult ESL instructor at El Programa Hispano in Gresham, Oregon, during his year of service with Americorps and the Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest. Following this, he taught ESL for the City of Somerville, and later moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Fellowship. He began working for BPS in 2019 as a Human Capital Staffing Manager supporting elementary and middle schools and subsequently served as the Director of Human Capital Development. Patrick is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese. He holds a B.A. from Boston College and an M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Candyce Baxter
Leadership Development Coordinator
Candyce Baxter is the Coordinator of Leadership Development for Boston Public Schools. A robust visionary for positive youth development that is equitable, empowering, and fosters intentional relationship building. Candyce has experience working with youth in various capacities, such as mentoring, supervising youth workforce teams, and managing school operations. Her work over the past several years has fostered a love of data organization, equity and inclusion, and building collaborative environments for learning and growth. Outside of work Candyce enjoys exploring new restaurants and creating poetry.
