Riding the Bus - Key Things to Know
-
As we look forward to welcoming students back onto our school buses, here are a few friendly reminders for students and families:
-
Transportation assignments for all families will be sent by mail and email before the last week of August.
-
Please make sure all of your child’s belongings are labeled with their first and last name. This will also help any lost belongings get back to you and is helpful as teachers and staff are meeting new students. This is also especially important for student safety, especially for younger children.
-
Please have your child ready for the bus at their assigned pickup location ten minutes before the stated pickup time. Please also be prepared for bus delays. If you would like to know where your child’s bus is in real time, check out Where’s My School Bus online at schoolbus.bostonpublicschools.org.
-
If you do not plan to have your student take yellow bus transportation to school this fall, please notify us as soon as possible to free up spaces on buses. To let us know, just call us at 617-635-9520 or email us at schoolbus@bostonpublicschools.org.
We are working closely with the City and MBTA to support students preparing to ride the MBTA, especially during the Orange Line shutdown.
-
All 7th-12th grade students are eligible for a free M7 MBTA pass through Boston Public Schools. M7 passes will be available for pickup at school on the first day of school. The MBTA will be free to students on the first day
-
BPS will continue to communicate closely with families to share important information about the MBTA and the Orange Line shutdown. Below we have linked two messages that have gone out with important information so far
-
To support students and families in preparing to use new routes, BPS has received 5,000 7-day link-passes from the MBTA to give to families. Passes have been distributed to BPS school leaders to provide to families as needed
As you prepare for the first few days of school, please be prepared for delays on the school bus or MBTA and be patient as we work to get all students to school safely and on-time.
