Curriculum Overview

  • HMS Instructional Focus:

All educators across all academic disciplines will provide daily opportunities for students to compose ASL responses to standards-based curriculum and complex ASL texts, with particular attention to organization and precision of ASL vocabulary. Developing a solid foundation in ASL composition, while worthy in its own right, also supports the development of students' skills in English composition as they bridge across languages.

  •  BPS Instructional Focus:

In BPS, all educators enact the five components of Equitable Literacy instruction so that all students, especially those who have been historically underserved, fully realize their brilliance and become a reader and creator of powerful texts.

  • DESE DESE Academic Vision:

"Every student in Massachusetts has access to a safe and supportive school environment that cultivates academic curiosity and confidence. Students have equitable access to an excellent education. Students read meaningful texts across content areas, work on complex real-world problems, participate in the arts, and share their ideas through speaking and writing using evidence, all in an effort to understand the world, their personal identities and their roles in the world.”
