Superintendent Cassellius and BTU President Tang issued an open call to all BPS educators and staff members to provide feedback around what is possible for our students. As the district continues to plan to return, recover, and reimagine, the district engaged with WikiWisdom, an organization that creates online forums to provide people doing the work with the opportunity to provide direct feedback to leaders and decision-makers. Superintendent Cassellius wanted to create a place where everyone could have a voice in the ongoing conversation about what we have learned during the response to the pandemic, what lessons should be kept, and what we should never return to doing. Opening an online forum presented an opportunity for all to contribute.
The forum opened on February 25, 2021 and concluded on March 25, 2021. More than 200 members of the BPS community participated and generated more than 113 ideas and 179 comments. A group of participants followed up to turn the recommendations into a report with specific proposals. Superintendent Cassellius and BTU President Tang met with the authors of the report to receive their recommendations.
All of the feedback shared has been provided to BPS leadership and was used to guide conversations about facilities enhancements, budget considerations, and the ongoing work of the team formed to guide the district in consideration of spending federal relief funds.
