10/21/20 BPS Memo on Going Fully Remote Learning

    Boston Public Schools
    Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building
    2300 Washington Street, 5th Floor
    Roxbury, Massachusetts 02119

    October 21, 2020

    Dear Superintendent Cassellius,

Our citywide data and Boston-specific metrics indicate an upward trend in potential Covid-19 community transmission level. As we informed you during our meeting, the city’s seven-day average COVID-19 positive test rate has increased to 5.7%, an increase from last week’s rate of 4.5%. At this point, we recommend Boston Public Schools implement remote learning for all Boston Public Schools students. Once the city’s seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate is below 5% for two consecutive weeks, students with the highest needs will be able to return to in-person learning.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you should have any questions or need additional guidance.

    Sincerely,
