Cooper Community Child Development Center
1891 Washington Street, Roxbury, MA 02118
-
For over 100 years, Cooper has served as an anchor and engine for leadership and education development among children who are living in the neighborhood of Roxbury and the surrounding communities. Our mission is to provide children ages 3 months-12 years of age with the strongest developmental foundation; to inspire a lifelong excitement for learning and to foster the skills necessary to become active and responsible citizens.
Cooper classroom curriculum activities provide a holistic school readiness approach to teaching and learning by recognizing the connectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. Our educators focus on inclusion and diversity and pay close attention to children’s interests, physical, personal, social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing as well as cognitive aspects of learning. Our programs are designed to promote family engagement to address the needs of children and families and the community and dedicates resources necessary to ensure that children have access to quality education services.
Children are provided two (2) meals and one (1) snack each day. All food served at the center is prepared by the Center’s kitchen staff and supervised by staff certified in food safety and sanitation. Cooper’s food program is regulated by the Department of Early Education and Care and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines for good nutrition, food storage, preparation, and service and sanitation practices.
Our national accreditation through the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a reflection on our practice and its continued improvement and engaging in the dialogue on emerging standards, we aspire to excellence. We are committed to cultivating a professional team of passionate staff and teachers.
