BPS Virtual COVID-19 Equity Roundtables
The Boston Public Schools understands it is essential we maintain an unwavering commitment to equity during the district closure. As we set goals and formulate implementation plans, we must assure racial equity remains in the forefront, as well as equity for students with special needs, English learners, and for those who are economically disadvantaged and/or from other historically marginalized communities.
To support this effort, the Boston Public Schools has created virtual school-based, community, and regional equity roundtables.
Equity Roundtables aim to ensure we hold our conversation amongst a community of stakeholders to push one another's thinking to ensure we are doing everything we can as a school, district, and community to eliminate opportunity and achievement gaps for Boston Public Schools students. Data is essential to understanding where to best focus our efforts to meet the needs of students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Leaders analyze student data during equity roundtables to ensure prioritization of our most vulnerable students.

Virtual School-Based Equity Roundtables
To ensure we maintain a laser-like focus on equity, every school will convene an Equity Roundtable at least twice a month during the COVID-19 shutdown, led by the school leader and composed of school staff, parents/caretakers, students, and neighborhood and community stakeholders (partners, advocates, etc.) as appropriate. The School-Based Equity Roundtable will be an opportunity to review school-based efforts to meet students' needs, and ensure that deliberate, tailored outreach and support are provided to students of color, students with special needs, English learners, and others with high needs. BPS' Racial Equity Planning Tool is used to ensure thoughtful planning, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement to ensure an equity lens when teams make decisions and take action.

Virtual Community Equity Roundtables
Weekly since shut down, the Superintendent and the Chief of Equity and Strategy have hosted a Virtual Community Equity Roundtable focused on ensuring problem solving with the larger Boston Community. Our most important work is to prioritize the needs of our most vulnerable students and we need all hands on deck to problem-solve the challenges before us given the realities of COVID-19.

Virtual Regional Equity Roundtables
School superintendents who each roughly supervise 12-15 schools will hold Regional Equity Roundtables with their school leaders to unpack inequities across schools within their region, share best practices, and problem solve.
