Tips for Caregivers
1. Set a weekly and daily schedule.
-
Involve your student in creating the schedule, expectations, and goals. Ask them about what they have been assigned or what they would like to learn about.
-
Build in breaks, outdoor time, meals, and social time.
2. There are a lot of virtual learning apps available. Check reviews from Common Sense Media to see what others are saying about the app.
3. Be mindful of the amount of time your child spends on technology. Alternate online learning with “unplugged” (non-online) activities such as reading, crafts, board games, and other activities.
4. Be realistic about goals and expectations. This is a stressful time for all of us; it is more important to have peace of mind than getting anxious over not completing a task. Everyone -- including kids -- needs some unstructured time.
5. Please aid your child in navigating their classes online. Sometimes, it takes a little bit of time to get used to learning online.
6. If possible, provide a distraction-free environment for your child to work with a desk and a chair.
7. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher/school or visit bostonpublicschools.org/coronavirus.

What is Clever?
Clever is a “portal” where you can access many apps used by your student’s school or classroom teacher(s). Visit www.bostonpublicschools.org/backpack to access Clever.
How can my student login?
There are two ways to access Clever:
-
use your BPS Gmail and password

sign in with a Clever Badge

Press the "Log in with Google" button. You should login with your BPS Gmail and password.
Option 2: Sign in with a Clever Badge.
