School Site Council

  • The Sumner School Site Council is a governing or advisory body that is comprised of equal voting members of parents and staff. The School Site Council includes representation from school administration, staff, parents, and the community. All members of the Sumner community are invited to attend meetings and be part of the discussion. The Site Council meets once a month to review
 and
 approve
 school
 policy, 
including
 but
 not
 limited 
to: Parent Engagement Plan, Quality School Improvement Plan (QSIP), school budget, reviews curriculum, forms personnel subcommittees for hiring and decide on general school policies.

    Current members of the Sumner School SSC include: Meghan Welch (principal), Patricia Cartwright (BTU rep), Diana Fortin (BTU rep), Adrienne Jordan (BTU rep), Diana Paul (BTU rep), Amanda Lukens (parent rep), Kate Markiewicz (parent rep), Emil Peñarubia (parent rep), and Nicol Riley (parent rep).

    Meetings are held in hybrid format (in person at the Sumner Lower School and via zoom) unless otherwise noted. Meeting dates for the 2023-2024 school year are as follows (all meetings run from 6:00-7:30pm unless otherwise noted):
