Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1. When is Parent University?

Parent University is probably happening right now!  Parent University offers classes, workshops, clubs and conferences throughout the year. Our biggest events are our Learning Conferences that take place 2 to 3 times a year on a Saturday.  But we also offer classes at schools and community centers and neighborhood organizations.

    2. How do I get a Parent University class at my school or community organization?

Parent University enjoys bringing classes to schools and organization. The first step is to get your school leader or organization's director to contact Caitlin Tenwall, ctengwall@bostonpublicschools.org about hosting a class.

    3. How can graduate from Parent University?

You can graduate from Parent University when you earn 10 Parent U Points (PUPs) in a single school year.  The 10 PUPs must be from more than class.  Every year graduation takes place in May and is a great day of celebration.

    4. Can I get Parent University Points (PUPs) for classes taken elsewhere?

You may receive PUPs for classes that are taken outside of Parent University.  Classes must be at least an hour and half long and have a direct connection to the supporting student success.  One example is Technology Goes Home (TGH), we will offer points to any parent who has taken a TGH class not offered through Parent U.

ll Parent University approved events count for Parent University points. Please see the Parent University Handbook for details.
