The Bruce C. Bolling Building
-
Most BPS administrative departments, including those of the Superintendent and School Committee, are located in the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building, 2300 Washington Street, Roxbury 02119, in the heart of Nubian Square. The building is named in honor of Boston's first African American President of the Boston City Council.
Architectural firms Mecanoo (Netherlands) and Sasaki (U.S.) incorporated the facades of three historic buildings into one state-of-the-art "green" building. The best-known facade is from the corner of the Ferdinand building, which had been vacant for decades. The former furniture store is restored to its former glory as a Roxbury landmark. In addition to offices, the Bolling Building houses several restaurants and retail businesses, with more to come. Parts of the building, including the 6th-floor roof deck, are available for rental by community groups. If you are interested in a rental, please complete and submit this form.
While most BPS central office departments are now located in the Bolling Building, some staff and offices remain at satellite sites. Please call ahead of your visit to confirm the location of any specific individual or department.
