How can a student be the commencement student singer or speaker?
Any student may apply to be a singer or speaker at graduation. However, you may be accepted to do only one of these two options.
- Only one graduating student will be selected to sing the National Anthem.
- Three - Four graduating students will be selected to present brief remarks (3 minutes in length each)
- Only one student will be selected to recite the Pledge of Allegiance).
If you are interested in either of these opportunities, contact Ms. Arlene Hudson at ahudson@bostonpublicschools.org. Please note: A student may apply for both graduation singer and speaker, however you will only be allowed to accept one of these positions. Selected students must be willing to work closely with a BPS staff person to refine and practice their speech, which may include participating in a brief rehearsal (date and time to be determined).
