An estimated 4,000 BPS students from over 22 elementary, middle, and K-8 schools took to the streets today in the 2nd Annual BPS "Walk to School Day" event. This event celebrates the efforts of "Safe Routes to School Boston," a city-wide initiative aimed at making walking to school safe, popular, and fun.
Boston Public Schools Superintendent (BPS) Tommy Chang announced today that he has appointed longtime BPS school leader Tanya Freeman-Wisdom as the permanent headmaster of the John D. O'Bryant School of Mathematics and Science. Dr. Freeman-Wisdom, a 1993 graduate of the O'Bryant and a 20-year BPS educator, has served as acting headmaster of the exam high school since July 2016.
On April 10 and 11, 2017, Boston Latin School (BLS) hosted its first-ever Human Library event. With the purpose of providing a positive framework for conversations that challenge stereotypes and prejudices, the Human Library consisted of individuals from the BLS and Boston community offering themselves as human “books” who shared their personal anecdotes and answered questions from the students.
