BPS Visual & Performing Arts and JazzBoston join in our first Boston Jazz Week collaboration! Presented in partnership with George Wein and the Newport Festivals Foundation.
Part 1: BPS JAZZ OPEN STUDIOS, 9:30am - 4:30pm (times/locations below)
Boston Public Schools students represent the array of cultures and communities that make jazz what it is today. Come and see first hand what jazz learning looks like, from kindergarten through high school. This landmark event takes place at participating schools. Admission is free; all are welcome!

Part 2: HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BAND SHOWCASE, 5:30 - 8:30pm - Copley Library/Rabb Auditorium
Rousing performances by bands from the Boston Arts Academy, Roland Hayes School of Music, Boston Latin School, Somerville High School, and Milton Academy. Eric Jackson, Dean of Boston jazz radio, leads a team of seasoned jazz radio hosts including Bonnie Johnson (WICN 90.5 FM) and David “Jazman” Johnson (TOUCH 106.1 FM), who will introduce the bands and talk about their lives in jazz.
